My Toastmasters journey began in February 2019, encouraged by a friend who promised it would change my life. Her words rang true as I quickly discovered the personal and professional impact of this community. Within a few months, I took on the role of Secretary, and by July 1st, 2019, I was honored to serve as Vice President of Education (VPE).
With only two months left in my VPE role, I faced a pivotal decision: pursue the Area Director role or focus on my speaking skills by competing in contests. My mentor, Dennis Dawson, advised me that the Area Director role would allow me to serve, support, cheerlead, and inspire over 100 Toastmasters. He reminded me that this path would also offer many opportunities to hone my leadership skills through speaking. This encouragement led me to embrace the challenge, starting my next stint as a leader.
